Leonardo Morais completed his bachelor's and master's degrees in chemistry at the Federal University of Mato Grosso in Brazil. In his final theses, presented the structural and electronic properties of TiO2-anatase (bachelor's degree) and Computational study of anatase/rutile systems and Pt/Irθ/Pt metallic multilayer (master's degree).
His doctorate was carried out at the Federal University of Sao Carlos, in Brazil, and on a co-tutorship basis with the Universitat Jaume I in Spain. His research was based on the conversion of ethanol to acetaldehyde and H2 on the surface of m-ZrO2(111), Au13 cluster, and Au13 cluster/m-ZrO2(111) surface.
In early 2025, he began a postdoctoral research in Prof. Ludwig and Prof. Rossmeisl group, investigating high-throughput calculation of the electrochemical properties of surface atom arrangement (SAA), hitched up to experimental exploration of compositionally complex solid solution (CCSS), with a focus on electrochemical properties and electrocatalytic performance, as part of the research project CRC 1625 A01.
